27/06: The Ford are delighted to announce that Sean Dickson (below) has signed for the new season from Stenhousemeir. Sean (27) is a dynamic midfielder with over 250 SPFL appearances at Stenny, Stirling Albion & East Fife scoring 37 goals. Welcome to Blair Park Sean!
21/06: The Ford are delighted to announce the following signings for the new season:|
Luke Crerand (25) signed from Petershill, is an attacking midfielder with blistering pace.
Experienced midfielder Ian Gold (30) was also at Petershill last season, and has top league experience with Clydebank and Kilbirnie Ladeside.
Michael Wardrope (22) from Kilwinning Rangers is a box to box midfield player, who went thru the Ayr Utd youth system before signing with the Buffs in June 2017.
Goalkeeper Martin McDonald (22) arrives from Irvine Victoria, where the 6ft 4in stopper was PLAYER OF THE YEAR and Players' POTY last season
Welcome to Blair Park lads!
01/06: The following awards were presented at the POTY Dance this evening in The Thistle Bar.
29/05: The Ford are delighted to announce that Chris McKnight (below) has re-signed for the new season after recovering from the knee injury and operation that left him side-lined last season. Welcome back Chris!
27/05: Ford keeper Alistair Brown has decided to retire from competitive football. Ally was one of Darren Henderson's first signings when he came to the club in the pre-season 2013/14. Alistair had already had successful spells in senior football at Hibernian and Ayr United and he was a key figure in the United side that won the Scottish Junior Cup in 2014, not only keeping SIX clean sheets in the competition, but also scoring with a free-kick from well inside his own half in the 3-0 victory over Larkhall Thistle at Gasworks Park
( link to video at 6m 10s ).
In the following two seasons, Ally added Ayrshire Cup and Ardagh Glass Ayrshire Sectional League Cup winners medals, and in 2017/18 he save three penalties in a penalty shoot-out against Beith at Meadow Park, Irvine to complete the grand slam of cup trophies competed in by Ayrshire clubs. Needless to say, he was selected as the SJFA West Man of the Match for his performance that night.
This season Alistair has struggled with injuries, however he still managed to make his 200th competitive appearance for the club and he turned in some match winning performances, none more impressive than coming on as a substitute when Chris Murchie was red-carded at Troon, and saving the subsequent penalty. Ally will be greatly missed at Blair Park, as not only is he a top keeper, but he was a huge personality in the dressing room. The club would like to thank him for his fantastic service and wish him all the best for wherever the future takes him, and we hope that will bring Mary and the kids back to visit at every oppertunity.
|22/05: The Ford have agreed contract extensions until June 2020 with the following players: Chris Murchie, Adam Hodge, Sam Lidington, Richie McKillen, Chris Robertson, Liam Caddis, Calum Watt, Jack Whittaker and Lewis Morrison. They join Marc McKenzie, who's contract also runs until the end of next season.|
21/04: Former United legend Tommy Roseweir's funeral is on Wednesday, 24th April at the Holmsford Bridge Crematorium.
Skippy was born and grew up in the village and in several spells at the club,
played for the Ford in THREE different decades and was a coach in the 1980s after his playing career was ended by a bad leg break in a local derby with Darvel.
Tommy was a member of Davie Sneddon's 1972/73 Invincibles and became the first player to lift the famous Jackie Scarlett Cup (photo below) when he captained Hurlford to a 6-2 victory over Kilbirnie Ladeside in the 1975 final replay at Dam Park, Ayr.
After his football days, he was a member of Hurlford Bowling Club. At his family's request, the funeral cortege will be leaving from Blair Park at 1pm on Wednesday. Fans and officials who wish to see Tommy off on his final journey are welcome. Scarves and club colours are encouraged. RIP Skippy.
